How to hide an entry in a registry key

Until yesterday I did not even know that it was possible to hide entries in registry keys. Can anybody please tell me how this is achieved.

It can be done via low level hooking. An example is a rootkit which the process is hidden and it is able to hide anything that it is coded to.

However coding a "stable" rootkit is not easy. Small bug can cause the system to crash or blue screen.

Thanks Ray. Yesterday when I read up about rootkits, I discovered they are able to write hidden values to the registry. As you know I have some interest in coding and although I have worked quite a bit with the registry I never came across a book which discuss this. Hence the question. I now know how to do this.
