From what i can see Excel does not print grid lines and the only way i can remember is to make a grid line box directly into word from word although the excel page will be viewable i don't think it will show when you print it off... it's been awhile since i have used an Office suite but the grid lines where for calculations and refference and the final print they are removed.
Check Office online and see if they have templates you can use.

I'm a bit confused here. Do you mean the grid borders print as "Thick Box Border" even when it is not set as such?

may be the problem lies in the settings of style in the excel...
just select the cells... right click.. go to format Cells... go to Border... go to style... select the style you want to print for the outline or unmarked the bold outline option...

Do the entire table, complete with formatting, in Excel. Make sure you apply BORDERS accordingly along the grid lines. Grids are made in Excel for your convenience, not your printer's. Grid lines do not get printed as it is. If you want them to be printed you should apply borders.
Once the table is finished in Excel, select it (click and drag) and copy it (Ctrl+C). Now open your word document, bring the cursor to the required area and select Paste (Ctrl+V). From my personal experience, this method is best when working with Excel tables in Word. Directly inserting Excel worksheets in Word makes it all the more complicated.

Let's see if someone suggests you a way of dealing with your problem in this way.
In the mean time, I should suggest you the following:
a) create your table in excel with all the formatting stuff;
b) when everything is in its final version, just select in excel the set of cells, copy and "paste special", as image, in your *.doc document.
I think it is better with MS word to paste as image...
Hope it helps.

"JayCub" It is possible to print the grid lines with the Office 2010
Also when I post the image link with IMG Tags, I am unable to complete the post. I get an error message that reads as: Post denied. New posts are limited by number of URLs it may contain and checked if it doesn't contain forbidden words.
Why does it happen? Please note that I did not use any other URL except the one linking to the image.
Tried to attach it as an image attachment... same issue... I tried using chrome and FF (both latest stable builds)
Since I was unable to find a way out, I smartly posted the link as the "Reason for Editing". Take a look at it below...

I am starting to do the entire thing in excel leaving out the word document. I hope I will be successful... That way the prints will be exactly as they should be.... Thanks guys...
