System partition letter.
Hallo, my dear forum users!
Just... out of curiosity: since floppies are no more so much used (or am I wrong?), is there any way to assign the letter A (or B) for a system partition?
Cheers!

Mmh... interesting. I hate this fact that "letters" start from the "c" one.
I will try next time... if it turns out that is a safe alternative.

I'm actually using a 320Gig HDD as my A:/ under Windows.

I have set the drive letter for my external hdd to B so I remember to backup my computer.

I don't think you can assign A: or B: to your system partition as they are always reserved for floppies on install whether you have any or not. You can, of course, assign them to partitions once the O/S has been installed on C: but I'm sure partitions will always start from C: when you install.

On install, you can't change the drive letters, and C:\ is always the system install partition/hdd for Windows

You can also have problems trying to use windows built in backup program if trying to backup A: or B:. System restore as well.

Yes... I was almost sure there was something against this idea. Things have started that way and now there is no coming back. However, it should be nice to have a tidy computer with letter starting in the proper way...
Thanx for the replies, my friends...
