Wandering windows.
When I changed my monitor recently it altered the default resolution from 1280 x 1024, to 1920 x 1080.
One of the first things I needed to do was reposition open windows for the new resolution, this has worked with everything except Windows Explorer. I set Explorer windows where I want them and they stay there, even through a reboot, until I shut the computer down for the day, when I start up the next day they have moved again.
My OS is XP-SP3 and I long ago modified the registry as suggested by MS from way back about this issue.
It is not the window size or the view that is affected just the position, and the change is not always to the same place so they are not moving to some default setting.
I thought it might be one of the various registry cleaning programs that I usually run before I shut down for the day but I have tried not using them and it made no difference.
I cannot recall ever having this problem with the old monitor, if I did it was not within the last few years, so the OS has only had a problem since the change in monitor and resolution.
As it only happens once each day it is not a big problem but it would be nice to find a solution, anybody got any ideas?

In case it is ever of use to anyone I finally solved this using Sizer.
I had to do it for each Explorer window that opened in the wrong place but when one did I maximised it using the box in the top right corner and the minimised it using Sizer instead of the other box in the top right corner, so far they have continued to open where I want them again.

Thanks for the info Pilgrim! It may come in handy for me some day.
