Audio Levels Reset To Low Setting Automatically
I am running Windows XP SP3. Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop. I have a strange problem, The audio level is very low... After I increase it to a certain level, it stays there only for a little time or until the next reboot... Then the volume reverts back to the lower settings automatically... I have tried installing the audio drivers too but it was of no help... I tried googling too but I couldn't find a fix... It is not that painful but I can sure use a fix, if there is one available...

Hello!
Have you checked the BIOS settings?
I hate audio on when my OS starts up! Therefore, in my case, I have set to zero the audio power within the bios setting environment.
Cheers.

Have a look through the audio options (from [url=http://www.retrevo.com/support/Dell-1525-Laptops-manual/id/9209ci377/t/2/]your manual):
Adjusting the Volume
NOTE: When the speakers are muted, you do not hear the media playing.
1
Right-click the volume icon in the notification area.
2
Click Open Volume Mixer.
3
Click and drag the bar to slide it up or down to increase or decrease the
volume.
For more information on volume control options, click Help in the
Volume Mixer window.
The Volume Meter displays the current volume level, including mute, on
your computer. Either click the QuickSet icon in the notification area and
select or deselect Disable On Screen Volume Meter, or press the volume
control buttons to enable or disable the Volume Meter on the screen.
Also confirm you have the latest driver. A Guy

Yes, I have been doing that all the time... but somehow the volume level goes back to a low level, sometimes you feel the volume is muted but it isn't, it's that low...
I downloaded the drivers directly from dell website... Will try the bios settings...
