google.de VS google.com
Hallo, my friends...
A "general" question (in the "General Forum") for you: do you know why google is showing me the google.de page even if I have setted the ".com" version of the WEB page as my home-page? I am referring to the situation in which a new firefox is started. Then I press the "home" button on my keybord (or in the FF bar) and the ".de" version of google appears. Why, my Lord??? I hate this...
I'm using FF 7.0. And, of course, I am in Germany right now.

Well... if anyone knows the reason, I am here to listen and learn...
Thank you.

Google is a strange creature that likes matching you to the server closest to you. With you being in Germany, the .de server is closer to you then .com is located. It's so it can make your results faster.
In Canada, I get .ca, since the Canadian server is the closest. And people from India get .IN if I remember right.

Set www.google.com/ncr as homepage and it will redirect you to .com instead of .de
p.s ncr --> "no country redirect"

You really made my day! I really thank you, "WizardMan"!

And thank you, Hellnoire, for your reply. But, as you've seen, there was a workaround...

Cheers and good night, my friends!

I'm aware, but I'm answering why it did it. After all, your first question was 'why' and not 'how'
