Going 64 bit
Sad to say my pc has died. I have no idea how to build one so I am at the mercy of a dealer. It appears most all are 64 bit now and that messes me up because one or two of my favorite programs are just for 32. I read where if you go to Windows 7 Pro that the 32 bit programs will work. I guess I am wondering if the Pro version is worth it or just go with the Home Premium and upgrade the software? Any Pro users?

99.99% of all the 32bit applications I use work on 64bit Windows/Linux.
Won't matter what edition you get, Pro, Home Premium, Ultimate, it will still all work the same.
Get Home Premium and it will still work.

Almost all 32 bit apps work, either normally, or by installing in compatibility mode. Trust me, it is almost a non issue

I'd rather be fishing!
Here is another vote for running 32 bit programs on a 64 bit system being a non issue. I have been doing it since I upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition when 7 first came out and haven't a single problem.

i can't recall any issues to be honest and 64bit is the way to go... im using Vista 64 bit now instead of 7 and no issues what-so ever.
