can't verify phone number

tried the verify phone number thing on the site today it gives me error message, "The phone number you entered can notbe used for phone verification." It's a google voice number, is google voice not allowed? I would really prefer to use my google voice number since well it doesn't cost me any money to read text messages like my phone does.

You can only verify through landline or mobile numbers.
Those with VOIP such as Skype are blocked because anyone can sign up for a new number and register a couple accounts to cheat on giveaways.
Sorry for the restriction as they are there so that everyone can have a fair chance of winning.

Quite happy to use the forum without surrendering my Phone number.

As soon as I click phone activation link it gives the following:

No data received

Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
Here are some suggestions:

Reload this web page later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

Tried multiple times both in FF & Chrome, same result.


Am I banned to enter or something else?

You can still use the forum without "surrendering" your phone number.
Only verified users can join the giveaway for fairness. Previously there were a couple of members that registered 10 accounts to join a single giveaway, AND THEY WON.

Why don't you get rid of them or name and shame them.
Just does not make sense to me that we can no longer join in some of the activities on the Forum now.But those that registered all of the accounts can.

In my personal opinion, putting shame on people is not a good thing to do, also it is a waste of time as I can use that time to do something more meaningful.

For your information, those users that registered multiple accounts can't join the giveaway as well unless they verify their phone. They are not winners and you guys are definitely not losers.

If we are not loosers how come we can't join in some of the Forum activities now.
I certainly feel like a looser but it is my choice not to part with my Phone number so I will have to live with it,
