Many websites are not loading in my laptop

I have a 1 MBps internet connection. My download speed is also very good. Some web sites r loading normally. But majority of them are taking a lot of time to load. For example Amazon.com, download.com, msn.com, twitter, ebay take atleast 7-10 minutes to load. I tried using many browsers like google chrome, firefox and also internet explorer but it is the same across all browsers. I searched for this problem online and came across a post which said that it is due to virus/spyware and if i close the process "explorer.exe" from task manager then all the web sites will start loading normally. I tried it and surprisingly now all those we sites that were taking ages to load started loading normally.I am using Bitdefender internet security 2012 and scanned my computer but did not find anything. Closing explorer.exe did the trick but i need some permanent solution to the problem as it is very frustating to close the process "explorer.exe" and browse and then restart it later when i am not browsing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated..

    Thanks,
    ROXOR

Probably your Bitdefender internet security firewall? Try to turn off the BIS firewall?

How many explorer.exe do you see in taskmanager ? If more than one, see which one is causing the problem and block it in the firewall.

if you kill "explorer.exe" your desktop and Taskbar disappear.
explorer.exe is the Shell of Windows (aka "Windows Explorer") and should be located into C:\$Windir$ (usually C:\Windows).

If I were you I would scan your computer with SUPERAntispyware portable, TDSS Killer (by Kaspersky) and HitMan Pro (30 days free fully working trial - stand alone).

I would also replace BitDefender with a good free antivirus such as Avast Antivirus free or Microsoft Security Essential and a good free firewall such as Private Firewall, Online Armor or Comodo

I have had the same problem since installing BitDefender,roxor87. They sent an e-mail that practically said to disable everything and if that helped to go back through and enable functions one at a time. I am thinking along the same line as leofelix and just going with Microsoft Security Essential.

Thank you guys for the great responses...

I think the problem has something to do with bitdefender internet security. I went to Bitdefender Settings---> Privacy control---> and under privacy control i disabled toolbar functions (bitdefender toolbar, search advisor and scan SSL) and voila now all websites are loading in my browsers.. Thanks for the timely response guys..
