System mechanic vs Ashampoo Winoptimizer
i have successfully obtained the key during the give away period but i don't think i will use the key considering i have obtained the system mechanic give away license. i just think that system mechanic is better that ashampoo winoptimizer 8 since i have used system mechanic before..
i have used many diagnostic software like Advanced windows care pro ( disappointing because nothing change on my pc after the scan ) and free diagnostic software. Now i am using tuneup utilities which bring a slight boost to my pc plus i can customize my windows..
the point is i am planning to use system mechanic back once i finish formatting my windows in future.
anyway, anybody can send me a PM or reply this thread on suggestion or thought regarding comparing these two software are welcomed..

I'd rather be fishing!
Hi scriptop. In the past I have used both System Mechanic and WinOptimizer on my PC and have had good results with both. But I do prefer WinOptimizer because System Mechanic has deleted files that I needed to run certain programs by default, whereas WinOptimizer has never done that. At the moment I don't use either, because I prefer Ccleaner over both of them and also prefer to tuneup my PC manually for better performance.

I have to agree that System Mechanic (like Advanced System Care) needs a more advanced user, because they both can, and will, delete things that are needed. This can result in a system that won't even boot. Winoptimizer, and CCleaner, are not nearly as aggressive. Since I went to Windows 7, I have dumped all the optimizers, and just run CCleaner and [url=http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/]NTREGOPT on occasion to compact the registry. I still have Glary Pro and jv16 Power Tools, which I can use on occasion, but only after making system images. Windows 7 does a real good job of maintaining itself. A Guy

but only after making system images.
A Guy makes a very good point here. I do the same myself, before making any changes to my computer.

1. Maybe I'm biased but I'd personally avoid System Mechanic at all costs.
2. Ashampoo WinOptimizer is relatively 'safer' but imo, there's nothing great about it.
For frequent scanning, CCleaner does the "safest' job although it misses a lot of keys. It's the only tool that I can recommend without much holding back.
If you wish to go 'deeper', then if there is one commercial system optimization suite that I would suggest, it would be jv16 PowerTools 2011 from Macecraft mainly for it's registry cleaning feature but the software itself can be rather 'buggy' at times. If you are only interested in the registry cleaning feature, there's no need to purchase a license...just get the freeware edition PowerTools Lite 2011 which provides the same registry cleaning engine, although it would miss a few keys compared to it's paid counterpart (well, they need to provide an incentive to their paying customers obviously)

Dont know what the fuss is here ive not got either of these but i did grab a copy of System Mechanic from the last promo from softpedia for my brother and set it up for him.
To be honest if you read what your doing instead of just clicking Quick fix or what ever its called it does a wonderful job if you just take the time to set it up and look 1st at what it wants to remove or suspend.
Plus always use the option to backup your Registry first.
