Facebook Messenger for Windows - Official Facebook Chat Client
Facebook is bringing its Facebook Messenger IM feature to Windows 7 as a desktop download.
The Windows app looks almost identical to the chat bar on Facebook.com. Users can permanently dock the chat bar on their home screen or access chat via the Windows system tray.Users get notifications when friends want to chat. Friend activity is also shown, however clicking on these items will take you to a web browser. The same goes for messages in your Facebook inbox. The chat bar is meant as a chat client.

That is what make them so successful.

Yeah, I suppose it does, but IMHO I find things like that too intrusive for my liking. App's like Windows Messenger were the first things I diasbled in Windows 7. And don't get me started on toolbars...
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain!

And this is why I have an AFA [Anti-Facebook Application] on my phone... I don't check Facebook, except once I get home from school and only twice a day at that.

There are no ads, and for anyone doubting the the sources legitimacy ,
Official description link: https://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=140228902751098#What-is-Messenger-for-Windows?-
Wherein u get the same download link: https://fbcdn_dragon-a.akamaihd.net/...engerSetup.exe
The story goes like this:
The app was in limited trial ,some closed internal dev group, and it got leaked on http://techit.co.il, instead of killing the link to the app, which is standard industry practice, they choose "to fight fire with fire" and made it official(not as public as most people like it to be ,i guess).
But the application is autoupdating, hence it doesnt matter at which stage the app is downloaded (4 now).
I did a bit of digging for the source ,b4 posting.

Although not original, Facebook seems to have a neat trick up it sleeve. IT admins might want to take a look, no admin rights required for the app install. (Devil says) Actually corp users might also want to take a look too.
Goofing off in office time, taking one in the sack for that would not be funny.
