USB-hub issues and USB Safely Remove.

    Dear friends,

I'm here reporting my experience on a problem.

I've bought few months ago a new USB-hub with its own electrical source and four inputs.
It has never worked good; each day I could experience several lacks of communication through it.
There was also my mouse plugged in; every time I had to unplug and plug it again to let it work again...

I won a license for USB Safely remove Pro few weeks ago; well... since I've been using it, I have no more problems!
I guess that the software is automatically solving the lacks of communication that sometimes happen.

    That's it!
Have a nice day, my friends!

It's good to see that software solves hardware problems.

Sounds a bit like XP was getting confused with the power management of the hub and kept disconnecting or powering down devices.

I think this is less of a case of solving hardware problems, and more a case of the software handling things better than a 10 yr old o/s which has never been that brilliant at it anyway!

Can we still talk about usb power management when the hardware in object has got its own power source? Just wondering...

In general yes, you still get power management options in device manager for a hub whether it's mains powered or not. All my external USB hubs have it (mains or not). It's also worth turning the option off for each hub in device manager just to avoid any potential future problems.

Never heard about this possibility. I can check the status of my hubs within the device manager, yes! But I've no clue on where to look for turning on or off this feature...

    Go to Device Manager
    >> Open USB Controllers
    >> Open Generic USB Hub or USB Root Hub
    >> Select Power Management tab (far right)

This option is also present on your network controller as well. Most of the time, it won't make any difference, but if you have USB/network issues, people will often tell you to turn these settings off as a matter of course to help troubleshooting.

    Got it! Thanx...
I was just checking the "generic usb hub" and not the "usb toot hub".
I'm going to shut down usb safely remove now, to see if things keep going good as well. Thank you!
