    That's a huge budget ;)

As usual, I'm not up to date with hardware. But always get a good motherboard, and at least 2GB or ram. Hard drive, at least 7200RPM drives.

Both graphics card and CPU price can go up quite high. So you can adjust around and see which one you can buy.

As for casing, go for a good one for better cooling.

Well, I know you don't know what I'm talking about, but when if you look this stuff up you'll see:

Processor - Although I am an AMD fan, I have to admit that Intel is generally better. If you compare an AMD processor and an Intel processor that both cost the same, the Intel will out perform the AMD processor. This being said, go with an Intel processor. The most popular Intel processor out now (and the best) is the Core 2 Duo. If you've got the money, I would suggest you go with an E6400, or even better but worth the money, the E6600.

Motherboard - Some of the best companies around (in my opinion) are ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI. If you are looking for a gaming motherboard, you should go with an P965 or P6N (Those are intel-compatible motherboards). With this series, you can use processors with the newer socket types, and can also use DDR2 memory (fastest memory out right now).

Graphics Card - Well the big question here is, DO YOU WANT A CARD THAT SUPPORTS DIRECTX10. There aren't any DX10 games out right now, and DX10 is only supported by Windows Vista. Now, DX10 = GeForce 8 series, DX9 = GeForce 7 series. Most DX10 cards will outperform a DX9 card if they are both playing a DX9 game, so a DX10 is better to have even if you are not running a DX10 game. But these DX10 cards cost more than twice as much as a high-end DX9 card. The DX10 card I have is the 8800GTS. This cost me $400. The next step up is the 8800GTX, which is around $550 - $600. If you've got the money, I would suggest the 8800GTX (In my opinion, it is the best value.)

Hope this helped you out. Just ask on what you didn't understand or if you want to know more.

Which model of Intel 965P Chipset Motherboard from Asus are you referring to?
What brand is the Power Supply?

How about adding another 1GB of memory?

Well looks nice, theres not much use of the floppy drive anymore though. And the core 2 duo is PLENTY powerful to run games, if you ask me theres no need to get a quad.

[url=www.alienware.com]Alienware has some insane specs available, have a look at those. You don't have to buy one but you can use them as an example.
