HI RAY,
hey dude the reason i didnt post anything was that i was on a holiday and i didnt have any internet access for four months.Hey ray i tried over clocking my laptop with the clockgen application,i succesfully overclocked my 1.73ghz pentium m centrino processor to 2.1ghz and everything was going fine ,no overheating problems etc and whenever i restart my computer it goes back to 1.73ghz,i was wondering if there was any other way to do this permanently,i cant do it through the bios because there is no option in the bios and i dont have any floppy drives etc,and is there anyway i can find my pll of the motherboard without opening the laptop because the warranty would become void, its the same acer laptop model.Acer Aspire 1641wlmi.thanks alot

There is no PERMANENT way to do this. The only other option (besides BIOS) is having the overclocked settings applied at Windows startup. ClockGen doesn't give you that option. I believe nTune will give you the option to "apply overclocking settings at startup," but nTune is not a very good overclocking tool. Unfortunately, all the GOOD tools will not automatically apply the overclock settings at startup, you'll have to manually input the settings each time you restart. But you can go ahead and try nTune.
I'm just gonna say right now though, this is not a good idea. Laptops do not have sufficient cooling for overclocking (most don't). Just increasing your processor speed +0.4Ghz will increase the temperature at least +5/6 Celcius (probably more).

Hey thanks woody, but this is a junk laptop so i do all sorta experiments on it and overclocking it really made a big difference by bout 25 percent.

I think that's incredible to be able to OC from 1.73ghz to 2.1ghz on your laptop by using clockgen. Moreover, you said that there's no overheating problem.
Just be very careful with OC. Insufficient cooling can lead to hardware failure.
