Movie Subtitles Problem

I just download a movie, but i cant load the subtitles. there have another files which named SUB and IDX files. So, anyone cant help me how to open or work the SUB file and IDX file when i play the movie together?

What format is the movie that you downloaded?

You can use VLC player to play these files. It's a free open source media player that runs on both PC and Mac.

Once you install and start the program open the .avi file, and then go to Video/subtitles track and select the one you want.

This worked for me with both the .avi, .idx, and .sub files all named the same and in the same directory.
