hi there, i got my compaq presario C747TU less than one month old. I felt it's rather hot after using it although i'm running few application just like avast, msn, utorrent and mozilla. So i use speedfan to check my laptop temperature and this is what i got :
Temp1:48C
Core 0: 45C
Core 1:45C
Are there any ways to reduce the temperature? Btw, I'm using cooler pad too. Thanks in adv. :)

I also have an old Coolpad. My HDD is 40C and CPU at 39C.
Here are some tips that might be able to bring down the temperature.
I disabled a lot of device which I am not using in Device Manager. Even up to my DVD-RW drive.
Turn off all effects in Windows and use Windows Classic.

I've disabled most of the devices as you told me and there's a little changes for the core 0 and core 1 temperature it were 43C but the temp1 still 48 celcius.

Be aware also that if it's not a software related problem then maybe there's something wrong with the cooling system of the laptop

Actually 48C is OK.. We shouldn't expect any way to tweak your laptop to get like my result because I am using Acer and you are Compaq. Each design gives different performance, heat and etc...

Thats Ok, My TravelMate also get hot. But I use my laptop in open environment so that fresh air can circulate and keep it cool.
Thats is natural with laptop.

One of my friend using a very light laptop, only 1KG. However, the left corner gets really hot and placing your left palm on the keyboard is unbearable.
