When I tried to play one downloaded AVI file, all that I can see on the screen is the message "the file can played in DomXPlayer". Is it a virus? How can the error be fixed?

It's most likely malware, and contains bad pr0n. Delete it, and search for another similar file.

I couldn't find much info about DomXplayer. My guess is the AVI file is a corrupted one or a spyware.

are you sure its not 'Divx player'?
seems not to be legitimate results only in cracks and hacks site which contains only infection..
these days lots of trojans, spyware, virus are binded into music, video, images and stuff like that sometime they look the same but are not..eg:someone sending you a image file.exe image file cannot be .exe the signs are their just gotta look at the pros and cons something most ppl get caught with..
