Hello,
I want to change my laptop's operating system from 'Windows vista home basic' to 'Windows XP', my laptop is manfactured by Toshiba. When I bought the laptop it was supplied with an "Product Recovery CD" now the question is. If I converted my laptop's operating system to Windows XP. Would I be able to convert it back later to 'Windows vista' using that "Product Recovery CD" or I will have to need a brand new CD for Windows Vista.

When you buy a laptop that comes bundled with 'vista' - you are fully licensed to use that copy of vista with that laptop. you don't need to buy a new vista disc if you wan't to reinstall vista.
sometimes "product recovery cd" is customised oem version of vista & sometimes it can be a emergency recovery cd. i am not sure about what it's in your case.
even if it isn't a vista cd, you have the right to ask for a free one from toshiba hardware vendor as vista os cost is included in the laptop.

yes you can install xp on it without problems if toshiba has drivers for xp - but i recommend that you continue using vista as hardware is designed to run vista on it
