i tried the progra,m vista boot logo generator did not work for me !!

Try using Stardock LogonStudio. I've been using it for a while and I haven't had any problems (and it's free!). Just make sure you get the Vista version:

It was updated early this year but I guess Vista is picky about the format of your images.
A more recent post says the developer is having problems getting his method to work in Vista SP1, although it's still an old post:

btw, i hope you know the hidden boot screen in vista.
you can try it by enabling "No GUI boot" in msconfig.
And beware, that it's buggy & sometimes gets stuck.

Use TuneUp Utilities 2008 it works fine for me. Works with SP1.
