    Hi everyone,
I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 installed and I have now realised that There is no System Sounds coming from Vista. The problem was from a long time ago but I did not notice it as I keep my PC sound low.The sound of Windows Beep, UAC, Shutdown sound, all have gone except the Startup sound ( Vista Orb one).
The weird thing is that all other sounds are intact that is sounds like Games, Movie, etc are fine. So, this is not a sound card or driver issue. This happened when I installed Windows Ultimate Extra Sound Scheme. I cannot restore my PC to earlier time as the problem is too old.
    RAM-1280MB
    Processor-Intel Pentium 3.00 GHz
    Sound Card- Realtek HD Audio

    Thanks in advance

    @ Odie
Thx for your answer. I checked the Services in services.msc and it told that the Windows Audio Service was started and was Queued for Automatic Startup at Windows Boot Up. Thus, the problem isn't because of Windows Audio Service.

Goto Control Panel > Classic View > Sound > Sounds Tab > Sound Scheme
    Select Windows Default > Apply

P.S : The list also contains sound scheme like "Ultimate Extras Glass" , "Ultimate Extras Pearl".

Right-click on Sound icon in task bar > Select Mixer > See if 'Windows' section is muted or has low volume.

    @ prashanthpai
Volume Mixer is also fine with all the sounds set to Max but, still no system sound. Now I am getting frustrated with Vista for the first time! :(. BTW, thx for your answer.

BTW, did you try Uninstalling the Ultimate Extras Scheme ? You can do it in
Windows Update > In left pane select 'Installed Updates' > Windows Sound Schemes

And I hope that you have the right 'Playback device' selected in 'Audio' options inn control panel.

Let's see what Google has got on it's b'day :

Thx for your time and help.
The problem is Not yet solved :( .I just can't figure out what can exactly may be the cause of the problem. Everything is just fine except the OS sounds.
I think I should either leave it like this or Format and reinstall Vista. I will go with the first option because I don't want to format my PC. :D
