On the first look of things, I think the system got infected by some spyware or some sort. I suggest running a full antivirus scan as well as other spyware or malware scans. Make sure your signature files are all up to date.

The best thing is scanning the PC with the best ANTI - Spyware and Virus. Never trust symantec product they will put you in problem.
Try Ashampoo which is free also and you get free 1 month Key.

Nah Ashampoo ain't that good. Their shareware sometimes you get it as free through promotional offers - the thing is that it's not worth to be a shareware in first place. And they spam too, believe me.
And for computers in offices like your boss's which may contain financial info or critical info, it's advised to go for shareware solutions from Kaspersky or Symantec . Symantec wouldn't give crippled stuff for Endpoint Protection as it's made for business environment.
Update your AV and scan the PC.
Or download Kaspersky AVP Tool and scan.
