Boot.ini could not be loaded
Today I wanted to change bootscreen using Tuneup utilities styler.I am getting this dialog box "Installation failed An error occurred during the installation of the boot screen.
The file Boot.ini could not be loaded. The file either does not exist, or you do not have the necessary permissions to access the file."
I am the adminstrator.My OS is Windows XP Pro I request from the forum some guidelines to solve this.
thanks

The only person that I know who uses Tuneup Utilities is mEtRiX and he is no longer around in this forum.
You can check whether you have a boot.ini file at the root of your C drive?
The boot.ini file is hidden, so you'll have to enable hidden files in Folder Options.

I use TuneUp, but I've never used Styler before. Maybe you're missing the boot.ini file that is needed to change the boot screen.

Try creating a boot.ini file at the root of your drive and run the Tune Up Styler.

Yes create one.
I do have TuneUp. Used it only to change the Windows XP Boot Screen.
And I was wondering how you could boot without boot.ini ?

Check here:

Check this one too
http://www.vistabootpro.org/
I suggest you use VISTA BOOT PRO,
BTW I also use Tuneup but I never had any problem with it, I use TU with Vista, in your case its XP, this should never cause
BTW you can use RESCUE CENTER in TU to restore your mistakes you have done previously.

re.Boot.ini
Thanks for suggestions.There is a doubt for me in respect of creating the file.
My PC is having one hard disk with partitions viz.Local Disk(C) and New volume d,e and f respectively.what number should I enter in partition?1 or 4? i have also copied a typical boot.in
#
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
thanks

Most probably it's 1. But to make sure and confirm it, follow these steps
Goto cmd and enter these commands one by one
diskpart
list disk
Now if u see a "Disk 0" or some other number in place of 0, type
select disk 0
list partition
You'll see a list of partitions with assigned numbers.
