Personal Protection !!!
Hi, I am very much the grey haired newbie and would welcome advice on ' Free virus, firewall, trojan etc potection'.
I am running vista home prem' with Sky broadband service presently with:
McAfee security centre (provided by Sky BB) with its firewall, virus, spyware & malware in use. I also have Spybot S&D.
When I shortly change from Sky I probalby will not have access to McAfee.
Is there a free 'dream team' set up to keep me protected.

One of the best "dream team" that I'd recommend to users is Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.
Here is a way to get a free 100 day Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 license.
Go to http://www.coverdisc.co.uk/cs249/kis/index.php
Fill up the form.
When asked to enter the fifth word of the sixth step from issue 249. Enter the word also in the box and press Submit.
Here's where you can download the latest version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.
http://www.kaspersky.com/kis_latest_versions
Make sure you've uninstalled McAfee before installing Kaspersky.

Best is what Raymond said.
You can even try the following:
For virus protection you can get a 3month ESET NOD32 key here.
For firewall ZoneAlarm Pro 2009 is good, get 1 year key here. It also contains an Anti-spyware.
Spybot S&D you are using is great.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys
Raymond; I see that you are a believer in Kaspersky, i'm a bit concerned about 100 days?
brayden; i'm not sure how good McAfee suite is, is it worth persevering with ?
ahashmi06; is ESET as good as Kaspersky and it again is time limited.
Thanks again for your very quick advice

Sorry ahashmi06; I foolishly missed your large first line about "Best is what Raymond said"

macaffe is a good program and i think shan will agree with me but this forum loves kaspersky and it is a good program but you mentioned your a newbie well if you found this site then your more than a n00b but if you really don't know about computer and anti-viruses i don't suggest using KIS because the app filter is incredible and it can get a bit confusing and you might accidently do something wrong and not let a important app run, as for norton i hated the sight of it! as for AVG don't even touch that it is useless.

Thanks brayden
I class myself as a newbie because there are so many people who are much-much more aware of the techicalities of computing and protection, i'm a computer user only.
You say that "macaffe" is OK BUT is this shorthand for my programme of McAfee or a different prog altogethor ??
Thanks again for your help.

I feel ESET is good but not as good as Kaspersky. Don't worry about the time limit, 100 days is a long period. I am sure by then you will get some other keys. Do what Raymond said.

by the time that 100 day trial runs out there will either be another giveaway or something like that.

Thanks everyone
your advice has been brilliant and v quick.
I will disable McAfee from 'start up' but keep it available on hard disk; unless you advise differently.
Again thank you for your help.
