wihth all of the back and forth of people liking vista and others hating it i figured it was a Harware issue. It appears that some of the problems i have experienced others have had run fine on vista same programs but different hardware profile. I am pursiung the Xp downgrade but i wonder if i install Xp if i will have to reinstal all the drivers for the laptop. I'd think i could order the downgrade from HP for my particular machine but now sure and i realy do not want to spend hours searching for drivers but it may be better than the stress i get everytim i booot Vista.

Vista Business is pretty useless. Vista Ultimate with SP1 is still the best

Vista Business is not that useless.
Features like the BitLocker encryption are not used at home and it needs hardware support. I guess, as it's used for Business, adding Media Center and HD video creating feature is pointless.

okay what if i do this for the time bieng. i have a registered copy of xp home 32 what system malfunctions or power loss would i suffer if i put xp 32 on a 64 bit processor.m I can get a copy of xp pro 64 fro 20 bucks as an exchange from Vista but i stilll run into issues like with AV softs and athers that say the soft is not compatible with a 64 bit OS. MS is about to launch a new OS in a year or 2 so when will the software companies catch up. As i look into my crystal balls i see that vista will phase out to the new Windows 07 but i do not knwo if it will beat XP. I look at software like WOW and it requires like 3ghz for 32 bit processor and i think 2.2 for 64 bit and even more for Vista. So if i run a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit machine would the game run my config properly. I called HP and asked and all they said was that i needed the 64 bit OS to use the 4 gig of RAM but could not tell me if it would affect programs. i am really stuck basically i have a 1500$ machine to chat with. I either find compatability issue due to vista or due to the 64 bit OS. I do not mean to bitch but it is sad that i swhould have these issues. Hp cannot even tell me if XP Pro would have all the drivers i needed liek for the finger print scanner or the lights scribe dvd burner. My dell up stairs came with erestore disks and a separte disk for drivers. I thought if i gave HP my /hw config they would have a driver install disk but nope. So please try to help me out with the dilemma to switch to 32 or 64 first

Furthermore, Vista 64-bit takes up a lot more Hard disk space (around 15GB) compared to Vista 32-bit (7.8GB). Again, many errors you get are due to hardware problems or incompatibility.

If you are not satisfied with Windows Vista, then you can always downgrade to Windows XP.
yes and i may do that but i still have the issue of whether the 64 bit OS will run the programs risght now i get 1 of 2 error messages either the game willnot run and i find that its a vista issue or it does not support a 64 bit OS. So what about running the 32 bit OS on this 64 bit machiine until the softs catch up. I knwo i need the 64 bit for the 4 gig of ram but right nwo i have all the ram i need. i wonder what errors running the 32 bit Os which i have a lisence for willdo running it on a dual core would the OS read the config properly. HP cannot even tell me if XP PRo has al the drivers i need. I remember the days where a PC came with restore disks and a separte driver disk.Is there a way to make a driver install disk and if so would these drivers work on XP i hate to be a pain in the butt but really it appears as though the people i ask these questions cannot answer them for me and they are Tech support lol
