Is there any free third party tool for file association for xp ?

XP's default is not much good. i want to associate many portable software (which i use) to their file extension for opening automatically by double clicking.

You can do that.
First save the software in to your computer.
Right click the file> properties>General tab> Look for the option "Change" and click.
Browse> Browse for your software> open> Check the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file> ok.

You are done then.
