MS-DOS turns 30 years old! - some pics
If you want to remember the old times, check this photos here. It reminded me the days where we had to start up the computer with a 5¼-inch format floppy disk and then change it to another one to work with it
MS-DOS, Microsoft's first desktop operating system today turned 30. The MS-DOS was launched on July 27, 1981, after Microsoft bought the full rights to QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System), the PC operating system the company acquired from Seattle Computer Products for $50,000

I'd rather be fishing!
Thanks Paf! That really was a walk down memory lane. The first computer I ever used ran on a dual floppy drive system.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain!

First computer I played with as most should know, was the C-64. Second was MS-DOS and I hated it.... yet I oddly love bash in Linux.
Go figure.

Thank you Paf for the news i had a feeling that this would be something to bring memories back for Leo, and i remember as Paul mentioned the C 64 and the time sitting waiting for the tape to load the program and fail after what felt a lifetime.. Still it is interesting to know the commands to use.

I'd love to just say 'ls' but I have a feeling that wasn't the command. Too much Linux.
As for me, I never used the tapes but I did get to use the floppies and cartridges.

I still have a 5¼-inch format floppy diskdrive laying around somewhere, and some of the floppies that went with it. Sometimes I feel an itch to install it again in a modern PC and play with it for the fun of it.

Lucky you, Kees
. Last week when I was cleaning my home office I found several 5¼-inch floppydisks, and I wandered what was in them, but unfortunately I have no drive to read them... Nonetheless, even if my wife urged me to send them to the garbage, I've kept them, hoping I will find my "lost innocence" in them, my early works and, most certainly, the best ones
. The best ones are always those we can not find
. Cheers.
