    Upgrading RAM

    Hi

I want to upgrade the memory of my laptop. I have an acer travelmate 2424WXCi. In the booklet it says the system memory is: 256/512 MB of DDR2 400MHz memory, upgradeable to 2GB using two soDIMM modules (dual-channel support). I currently have 256MB RAM but want to add 1GB of RAM.

Is it alright to buy this RAM:

    Kingston DDR2-667 1024MB SO-DIMM
    [ME-KN1GD2667]

    kingston KVR667D2S5/1G 1024mb so-dimm , 200 pin - DDR2-667 , CL5 , 1.8v - lifetime warranty, kingston KVR667D2S5/1G6 1024mb so-dimm , 200 pin - DDR2-667 - lifetime warranty

    OR

    JetRam DDR2-667 1GB SO-DIMM
    [JM667QSJ-1G]

    Transcend® JetRam™ High Performance 1GB DDR2-667 200-Pin SO-DIMM Module - 6 Layer PC Board, Lifetime Warranty, Transcend® JetRam™ Series 1GB DDR2-667 200-Pin Notebook Memory: 6-Layer PC Board, Life-Time Warranty

I would really appriciate any help.

    Thankyou very much!!!

The RAMs that you are interested in buying should work on your laptop.
What is the price difference between Transcend and Kingston?

In Malaysia, Kingston is a more popular brand.

    Transcend $17.5
    Kingston: $18.1

The price difference is about R6 in South Africa or about US $0.60.

Thank you very much for your help Raymond.

I can vouch for Transcend being a good brand, along side Kingston in quality. I recently bought a flash drive and a stick of ram from them (one gig went bad in the desktop) and it's as good, if not the exact same quality as Kingston, I find.

personally i would go for Kingston...as both of is running on 667 so , there is no problem on which ur goin for

btw , even on your booklet says that upgradable to 400Mhz.. the 667Mhz will automatically cut to 400Mhz...
