    Upgrading RAM..

    Hi I would like to upgrade my desktop ram to 2gb. Just now I bought a Kingston named brand,but it doesn't fit properly,so it doesn't work LOL.

    So, anyone knows what type of ram i should buy?
    Here is the WRONG ram that i bought :http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/conf...=KVR667D2N5/1G
    Here is my desktop : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...93/loc:0&cc=nz

    And lastly, should I buy a SINGLE 2gb ram or, two of 1gb ram?

    Hope some experts can help. Thanks.

    Confused Strange

    I couldn't find specs or info for your model on the HP site either.In fact,I couldn't find the model number you gave either.The only place I saw that model number was on the link you provided.But if you just click on the scan function at the Crucial site,it should be able to "read" the Ram in your PC.You may have to contact HP and give them a serial or service tag number found on the case.

    Hmm i tried out the scan function,and now I'm getting a clearer picture on what type of ram to get later.

    Btw, here is my motherboard specs taken from the website.

    Part / Feature Specification / Support
    Motherboard description

    * Motherboard manufacturer's name: ECS RC410-M
    * HP/Compaq name: Asterope3-GL8E

    Memory

    * Single-channel memory architecture
    * 2 x 240-pin DIMM sockets support unbuffered non-ECC 400/533 MHZ DDR2 memory modules
    * Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory is 2 GB

    Hmm i was wondering if i bought the correct ram previously.

    Are you sure you had the modules properly positioned when you tried to click them in? They have a little notch which must be aligned to the corresponding 'upheavel' of the slot.

    Glad to hear you have things sorted. For future reference if you go to the Crucial memory site there is provisions for them to scan your computer and tell you the correct memory for it.
