help with hard drive in external enclosure

i just got my new wd caviar and a external enclusorure

-it powers up, and i hear the hd starting too, but windows does not really recognize it.
-the safely remove thing list it as just USB mass storage device but no letter or name is assigned,
-it does not appear in MyPC either.
-the device manager list it as WDC1e EADS USB Device in the Disk Drives just under my main HD. (i guess windows thinks its an internal drive?)
-Im using XP sp3, the enclosure came with a cd with drivers, but anything above w98 does not require it.

I bought the enclosure so i can use the caviar as an external HD, but so far my pc cound not recognize it, did not even format it yet.

Does anyone have any idea of what should i do?

ok, so i've been reading and now im disk management formatting the disk
lets hope everything goes fine, its 1% so far

Just try to install the driver and if not sucessfull try to forma the hard drive in some other computer to see if it works in that computer
