    Spin USB stick problem

Hi! I have a problem with my 8Gb HP USB stick. Every time I try to do something (like transfering files, deleting files from usb or even try to format) it "disconnects" then autoplay start again.
Is any way I can fix it?

What operating system are you using?

Good article on disabling autorun on systems here -

Are you sure your stick is not infected - there is some info here for that problem

and a whole swack of info found by googling flash drive autorun problem

This is just a place to start to fix your problem, certainly not a definitive solution, but just info

Others will have more help for you, I am sure.

OK, I would be very inclined to suspect an infection or rogue autorun/autoplay inf file.

however... if you can't open/access it, then it's hard to clean it... There is some information here that may help you.

HP makes an excellent USB format tool, read about it here, then download and run it.

please let us know how it goes, thanks.

    Good luck!!

If it's giving you an error under Ubuntu, Ubuntu doesn't know what an autorun file is, so it can't be a virus.

It sounds like the wiring/soldering is bad. How old is the drive, and is it under warranty? You might want to get it looked at.

The other thing I could think of is your plug is bad. Try plugging it into another USB plug and see if you get the same issue.

Yea, you're right...ubuntu doesn't know what autorun is...so, the drive may be too old.....
