    Please help- Bios update

I am now using Acer laptop with its bios versioned 1.06. It works ok so far till recently I found that there are updates so that the laptop could support boot from external hard disk. I wish to update it but also worry on the risk of getting into trouble. Hence, I hope there would be some suggestion on how to backup my current bios and restore it if the new update caused a mess on my laptop.Thank you!

Hi dredge,I have updated my bios a few times and never ran into any trouble, but in case i did, like you i did not know how to back up the bios,so I looked online for the original bios file, which in your case is 1.06,i then downloaded that and kept that safe as a backup in case.

Thanks,Richie1913, your comment gave me brave to update the bios and it works perfectly well. But just hope there will be someone to let us know how to backup the bios file. The result from google mostly dealt with older windows like win98,95 and 2000.

I personally stay away from BIOS updates, it's tricky stuff if you install the wrong one... but some people see a use and do so... frequently too!
