Is there anything important on it?

If not, you could try formatting it and going to re-mount it.

If it does, try unplugging it and plug it in a new USB slot on your computer.

Agree with hellnoire. Test it on another computer, if detected properly, backup all the files and reformat the drive.

Does it show in Computer Management, Disk Management?

    In XP it's Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management

It's possible it is assigned a drive letter that is already in use on your PC. For instance if it is E:/ and you have a hard disc that is E:/, it won't show on My Computer. You can change it's drive letter in Disk Management. A Guy

Try a Linux Live CD and see if you can mount the drive in there.

    Screw Google! Ask me!

Hmm... you can't open the drive from "My Computer"
That sounds like you have an autorun.inf file in there.

    Try this.
    Download this file http://www.moosoft.com/other/autorun.zip
    Run it and click Enable.
Restart your computer and try to access the drive again from My Computer.
