    Cool Old computer...new hard drive......

I got 2 computers and both have windows 7...on my newer one windows 7 runs nice...but on the older one.....So you wonder why i put windows 7 on an old pc(processor amd athlon XP 1900+ video card -Nvidia GeForce 440 MMX)
    I put windows 7 because XP,Longhorn and 2000 won't work....
And no....it's not the drivers....the hard drive is sata II, the motherboard Sata I....I used jumper and bios sees the hard drive....then XP/or Longhorn setup.....everything works fine while copying to hard drive...but when it stops booting from cd and boots from hard drive, surprise! windows loads and then.....guess, dont read further................................................YES!! you guessed it, BSOD!(blue screen of DEATH!)
On other forums they say it's the hard drive that is not compatible with the old generation of SATA drivers....i really need help, cuz i don't wanna upgrade my older pc.......the hard drive is a WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar Black 500GB....PLEASE HELP!!

SATA 1 and SATA 2, as far as I remember from hardware class, are not compatible unless you update your SATA drivers.

Does your motherboard maker's site have any support on upgrading to support SATA2 on your mobo?

You have to download the latest sata drivers from the vendors site and then integrate them with nLite in to the boot cd. I guess it will work.

    Screw Google! Ask me!

If you put the manufacturer, brand name, and model name of the mother board, we'd be able to assist you better. The more detailed you are, the more people will be able to help.

Googled your motherboard and up it came. http://www.epox.com/product.asp?id=EP-8KRAI
To the right of the home page you will see 4 circles lettered b,d,? and m. Click on each of these to bring up what you want , bios, drivers, faq and manual. There is also on the list an e-mail address where you can contact them for more information if required.

With respect I have tried the link I sent you and it works just fine. It appears that you have to be registered in order to download. I have just tried it again and was asked to log in.
