Help Win XP didn't detect my DVD drive..How to solve?
I just want to install a game from dvd
till i realize that the DVD icon not show at my computer screen
help me to fix it
i did delete upper and lower filters from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and reboot
but nothing happened
i also scan for Hardware Change
also nothing happen
please help

Hmmm....is your DVD using S-ATA input? if it does....Xp sucks...Get Windows 7 or Vista.....

Make sure the wire is connected to both ends very firmly.and it does not becomes loose after closing the cabinet.this comment maybe too stupid but do check as i had this issue and it took some time to find out.

you could download microsoft fixit center beta and give it a run...i remember that happening before (along time ago) ... just google it and save yourself a bit of time....or maybe and earlier version of TuneUp utilities as they are now free and can repair missing icons as that's what it sounds like...

i fear if ur DVD drive is enabled. It may be blocked.
Another thing. Go to run and try accessing the DVD drive letter which usually used to show.
or
Create a new user, go to it's my computer & check for the DVD drive.

Open Device Manager by typing devmgmt.msc on run prompt and see it is showing your DVD drive or not.
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.
