External hard drive - Which to buy?
Hi all,
I have a keen interest in downloading and watching movies and thereafter store the ones which I like the most. Problem is, my hard drive is almost full doing so.
I would like to know which are the better options for me, to have a new external usb hard drive. Would like to know your reviews on this guys.

I'm using a cheap Transcend StoreJet, paid $100 for a 320 gig shockproof drive. It's fast enough for my liking as well, and it lives up to the 'shockproof' claims.

I would go for the WD-mybook, as grr suggested. I have used Western Digital HDD's for years and have never had one fail yet.
There may be a bit of snow on the roof, but there is still a fire blazing in the hearth!

i'm using the WD-1Tb which i bought in September-2008. Since February-2009 I/ using it on daily basis.
In fact I'm also abt to buy a 2Tb-WD mybook, but not getting a deal with 3 year warranty. all of them r just giving 1 year warranty.

Have to agree with Grr and Johnshaw as i have a 1Tb WD My Book and think it's a fantastic external drive, bought it in March last year and is in daily use, also like the Hitachi 320 gb external disk that's 2 yrs old and still humming along nicely...not sure if i trust the seagate as much as the others...

@ grr Too bad about the warranty being only 1 year, instead of 3 year, but WD is still a good product IMHO.
@JayCub A 500 gig Seagate HDD is the only HDD I've ever had fail on me. Maybe I just got a bad one, but since I've never had a WD HDD fail me yet, why should I give Seagate another try.

I would not trust Segate. a friend of mine had hard time with segate 1.5tb. Only good thing is they provide 5-year warranty
