Which laptop is better?
Anyone in the forum have any insight which would help make this decision. I have narrowed it down to these two models, both on sale at an identical price:
Dell Studio 15.6 inch
i7 720 QM
640 GB HDD @ 5400 RPM
8 GB RAM
1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics
HD (720p) glossy LED display
9-cell lithium-ion (Li ion)
2 year warranty
Acer Aspire 17.3"
i7 720 QM
1 TB HDD @ 5400 RPM
8 GB RAM
1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
1600 x 900 LED display
6 cell battery @ 4400 mAh (up to 2.5 hrs)
1 year warranty (labour and parts)

I'll take Dell. First bcos I prefer Dell over Acer, secondly it's compact compared to 17.3" and lastly warranty period.
HP Pavilion/Windows7 Home Premium SP1, Chrome16/IE8, NAV 2012, Windows7 Firewall, VLC/WMP, YMessenger/GTalk

Proud and satisfied Dell user here. My vote also goes to Dell.
Acer has edge on some features and they're are now capitalizing on it, thus a good move. Dell is known for reliability and better upgrade option ( in my experience ).
Check which brand has better customer support service in your country - it's a plus package!.

I have used Acer, HP and Dell. I loved to use my HP DV4 lappy but now I've shifted to Dell Inspiron 5010 which is a lot better than the HP machine. If you're concerned with the visuals of the laptop then you should go for Acer or HP. But if you want simplicity in design with power usage, then I would recommend Dell.

DELL here
. Good performance & long warranty.
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

Dell if you want more battery life but in Canada, I've generally avoided Dell for all the hardships they've caused my family. So my vote would be to Acer.

It depends...
If you're a heavy gamer, then I'd say Acer since it has a larger screen display and more hard drive space....
Otherwise, I'd say Dell due to it's 9-cell battery and 2 years warranty which is an added advantage compared to 1 year only. (assuming it's for both labour and parts too)
