    repair my corrups systems32 file

    hello..dont know it the right column to write, but this is my problem..
    one of my desktop has failed to start..when i start , i just get an error say" system32 psi driver.sys corrupt..n ask me to insert the cd and do a repair.

    i use windows xp professional version 2002 service pack2..the problem nopw is i dont have that windows xp in version 2002..i just have the windows xp professional in different version..is it ok for me to do a repair with different version of windows xp version? thnks in advance..please help me..tq

    You could try using the update driver function in Device Manager. If the proper driver is located on your XP cd, Windows should find it for you and install it.

    already done that but..each time i try to use wndow update, it will say i use non genuine windows..although my os is not pirate..so i start to gve up to do a windows update...so now i just hoping on repair installation

    Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I meant for you to use Device Manager to seacrh for the individual driver you need to replace. If you go into Control Panel, select Device Manager, then find the hardware with the corrupt driver. Right click on the entry and choose "update driver software". When windows asks you where to search for the driver software, choose browse my computer for driver software. Then under search for driver software, browse for the drive in which you have your XP cd inserted and let windows search for the driver. If the right driver is on the cd it should find and install it.

    yeah i just finish do as u said..n now i already solve my problem..many thanks.. but i think my other question has not been answered yet..my question is,is it ok to me to do a repair installation with the different version of windows xp?

    Your welcome! I'm glad you got the problem sorted out. As for your other question, I have never tried it so I don't know for sure, but if I had to guess, I would say no, I don't think Windows will let you do that. Maybe some one else, who has better knowlege of this, will be good enough to post.
