why my pc display is so dark?

hye anybody know how to solve this problem? my pc screen is so dark n i know that was not because my monitor..
When I click Start - Settings - Control Panel amongst the icons that appear
is one called Intel Graphics Technology. but when i clicking on the icon produces the
following message. 'The drive for this control panel applet is not
currently running or is not available' .
so that why i think it is bcause my graphic card driver.anybody know what the latest driver for my graphic card to make my screen bcome much more brigther? thanks in advance

please visit HP support webpage, look for their Latest Intel(R) 82810E Graphics Controller driver (HP is used to customize drivers) for your model of computer, download and install it.
Reboot twice if necessary.
Please also install Service Pack 3 for XP via Windowsupdate a.s.a.p.

Maybe the service of your graphic card driver has stopped. Go to Start/Run and type msconfig. Go to Services tab an look for any service related to your graphic card and see if it has stopped and set it to auto if it is set to manual. This happens some time with my Synaptic touchpad. The service suddenly stops. I start it again and everything's OK.

leofelix: what is the full address for hp?gve me plz.. n how can i dwnload the sp3, my windows update got a problem.each time i want to use it i always fail in window genuine verification even though my os is not pirate..so i start to gve up to use windows update..any way to update to sp3 wthout using wndow update?

Dunno man. Just look around for a dll file or something related to your graphic card. You might have to download a third-party tool to easily find it.

That indeed could be also other problem, like that driver or service issue... BUT what you told is just what commonly happens when monitor is gonna "die". It goes darken and darken then you have to put brightness settings to 100% but you still cant see anything. But let's hope that it is just an driver or service issue

Anyway to make sure that it's not that monitor, can you try that monitor on another computer or is that laptop?

besides of Windowsupdate you may turn on Automatic updates within Windows Security Center

me use computer not laptop..the reason why i told that it not the monitor problem because i already test it on another computer n its work fine =)

Hi mie did you try a different monitor on your pc, i would follow Leo's advice to be honest as that's the route i would take, as you have proved the monitor works fine..
Can you still get windows update with Sp2 i thought that was discontinued ?

i already tested it n it work find..for window updated, i dunt know whether sp2 wndow updated was discontinued or not , coz i didnt ever success when doing wndows updated bfore..
