    Cool Old pc keeps dying

So, let me tell you about my problem....I tried changing processor's speed from 1200Mhz to 1600Mhz(because 1600 was the original setting, but bios battery died so it had gone to 1200....After i did that i clicked save...and the pc monitor won't display anything, the hdd led will remain on...also, the fans spin...I got it running by leaving it to cool down and reseating bios battery(loading defaults)
I managed to make the system turn on...(antivirus: kaspersky 2009, Firewall: sygate)...I surfed the internet a bit, and bang....monitor off...no pc response, no sound....
-----Is my processor dying, is PSU's fault...or is that crappy GPU(nvidia GeForce4MX)? -----
God is in my head, but the devil is in my pants. >

Put a new Bios battery in the computer and try again.

The battery recovers some power in that time. Try it and keep the receipt.
If it doesn't give you what you want, Take it back.

Try to run your system with 1200 MHz --> Download CPU-Z --> In “About” tab, save report as txt and attach here. I actually want to know technical spec (Processor, Mobo, Graphic card, and RAM spec) of your system before recommending any solution.
Also clean your system and check processor temperature. Your symptoms are matching to the problem known as “processor heat up due to inefficient cooling”

Sounds like a hardware failure. Check all connections, memory slots, replug all cables and everything else. If the beeps persist, note down the intervals and lengths.

What manufacturer Bios and what version. Beep codes can differ by manufacturer. For example:
Below are the AMI BIOS Beep codes that can occur.

    Beep CodeDescriptions
    1 short DRAM refresh failure
    2 short Parity circuit failure
3 short Base 64K RAM failure
    4 short System timer failure
    5 short Process failure
6 short Keyboard controller Gate A20 error
7 short Virtual mode exception error
8 short Display memory Read/Write test failure
9 short ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 short CMOS shutdown Read/Write error
    11 short Cache Memory error
    1 long, 3 short Conventional/Extended memory failure
    1 long, 8 short Display/Retrace test failed

You might also look closely at the capacitors next to the CPU/Fan to see if they are leaking brown dust, or appear to be bulging out at the top or sides...I had a computer that was acting the same way and I found out that the capacitors were bad.
