Spray water onto a cloth, make it damp but not soaking.
Wipe down screen gently. Do not apply pressure at any time, you're trying to be gentle.
If you have harder spots to get out (male friends that are perverts or messy eaters), get them to lick it off. I find this also prevents it from happening again.
Or if you're in a cute mood, screen_clean.swf can work in a pinch.

i heard somewhere that
A clean Piece of Flannel cloth, an even mixture of 50%Surgical Spirit(Isopropyl Alcohol) and 50%water works just fine[COLOR="Silver"]

Yeah, the pug's something though StumbleUpon I've found.
As for the concoction you recommend, I haven't used anything more then water on my screens, and don't recommend anything more then that, just to be safe. I've heard a few different ideas but I know I don't want to damage my screen
hence why I say straight water.
Your idea I've heard before though, and I'm not sure if it works either. Flannel's fine, so is a microfiber cloth if you can find it cheap. I use the latter because I have more then enough free because of my glasses

I have used a 50-50 mixture of water and 91% isopropyl alcohol on my Samsung TV and it removes kid's messy finger prints and leaves no film. The screen looks just like it did when it came out of the box.

Don't use lens wipes. 100% alcohol could destroy a flat panel. Be very, very careful with any alcohol.
Mild soap in water works fine. Or buy a commercial cleaner and use lint-free wipes.
