i have recently been searching for parts for a pc project and looking for suggestions for a CPU Cooler for the intel i7 950 Bloomfield as the price looks good for an intel chip, and im not sure if a stock cooler is good enough, as this chip can run quite hot.. Had a look at the corsair hydro and don't fancy that root.
looking for suggestions for a decent cooler, as for the case im looking at space is not a issue, as long as it doesn't interfere with the motherboard or the ram slots.. something quiet would be appreciated, as there are so many reviews out there all claiming to be the best...
Intel stock cooler should be more than enough if you have no intentions of overclocking. If you still want to consider third party cooler, then I will recommend Cooler Master V8.
Thank you for the information BoyFriend it's the first i have managed to see with a polished base plate, and something most overclockers recomend, i have decided that i will be looking into overclocking as the cpu is reasonable in price, the fan speed controller is a nice option and one fan in the center against two using push pull on others i have looked at, so i will put this on top of my list at the moment as some of the others can cause problems depending on the motherboard, and this covers the LGA 1366 Cheers
You welcome JayCub The biggest advantage of Cooler Master Products is their mirror shined polished copper base plate (as you have mentioned too). Moreover, I have found that bundled thermal paste is of very good quality. Some third party solutions are bundle with poor quality thermal paste and in that case you need some quality thermal paste to get full advantage of those solutions.
Thank you hariharan i will look into this as i haven't tied myself to anything, i like BoyFriends suggestion and i will keep that in mind and also look at your suggestions, thank you very much, all the help i can get i will take on board, at the moment im comparing many reviews on different parts, i will have the new case in two weeks fingers crossed as that is the one item i have decided on
As far as budget goes i just want quality and expandability, i have spent years on mechanics and i love circuitery... made a few of my own circuit boards nothing huge but they all worked great
For best bang for the buck, look at the [url=http://www.anandtech.com/show/2366]Coolermaster Hyper 212+. Two highly rated CPU coolers are the [url=http://www.anandtech.com/show/2485]Noctua NH-U12P, and the [url=http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cases_cooling/prolimatech_megahalem_review/1]Prolimatech Megahalem. A Guy
Thank you A Guy i appreciate your imput and i looked at the Noctua and like what has been said about it, at over clockers, it may be a tight squeeze i will have to look at the dimensions when i buy the case, i will look into the Prolimatech also and see if it's available here as im quite surprised to see so much on offer and thought we where restriceted but the market is bigger than i thought..
I appreciate all your efforts and your help is invaluble....
My PC has a Coolermaster CPU cooler on a Q6700 Quad core and it has done a good job for me. Very quiet and efficient.
Thank you John i think my mind is set on a Cooler master CPU cooler.... maybe the V10 as the bench mark results are really good and on par with the best there is... Shades the Noctua, and although it is a huge cooler i will have plenty of space to fit it in.
Had a look at some of the Coolit products and they look great for enclosed water cooling although the fans tend to be a bit noisey and the Cooler master V10 never lost control..
