Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop Display/ Mobo Problem

    Hey Guys,
    Wsup?

Few Months ago i got an Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop
but the problem is its more likely dead.
    ok

    • I press the power button and the power led comes up and the fan spins for a while and goes silent,
    • Still no post or no bios or nothing on the display just dead black
    • so i keep waiting to hear any windows startupsounds but nope nothing
    • nor the HDD led blinks so its not booting! or no bios display or nothing
    • i tried and external monitor but still nothing
    • then i downloaded a service manual and opened it up to see if sme thing was loose
    • but evert thing was intact visually
    • so i dusted and blew up all the dust inside
    • and put it back together and turn it on hoping it will come to life
    • but still nope
    • same problem persists
    • so i plugged in the hhd to my Desktop and used it(it works)
    • and yesterday when i was arranging my room i saw it just lie there dead in a corner and thot will try turning it on again
    • And voila it did turn up and i got into bios n stuff but it had no hard drive so cudnt go to windows
    • but wen i saved and exited bios
    • it again goes to staying dead
    • and one thing i noticed was the lcd was dim even wen i tried maxing out with fn key n brighten key.

Has any one come across this, is this a mobo problem or a display chip or what ?

i tested the ram and the hard disks they work perfectly.

it cant be bios corruption, cus i tried flashing in new bios for the model from acer too

one guy says its a loosened or burned display chip

    O dunno whats wrong?

please help me bring back the poor thing to life
    ]
    Thank you!

I think some power problem. Not sure just check your power input.
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

I second INDRANIL. You should check the power supply. Something might be wrong with the BIOS too. Remove the CMOS battery , wait a couple of minutes and put it back again. Report back here.

    Screw Google! Ask me!

The same prob occured to me except my bios screen came but no display after win xp loading screen comes, second mine was an acer desktop. To fix it I tried re-installing but to no avail. Even tested ram and removed cmos but to no avail. Angry i tapped the graphic card(the golden part) with a pen ,rebooted and voila it worked like a charm. If no bois is coming I suppose its a faulty ram. does laptop give any beeps while booting. Try replacing the ram. My computer always crashed with a BSOD and I figured it was a faulty ram. Dont trust the local computer engineers the may looting you. Infact they may even further damage your computer.
