I think it has something to do with the screen, so I advise you to check your laptop at a specialized service. Maybe the charger problem by not providing enough power.

Pc Wizkid & Programmer :)
check your charger with a meter ,Toshiba`s require 24 volts instead of the normal 19v that most laptops use ,if its kicking out around 24v then chargers good ,but Toshiba`s are well know for power issues especially the satellite & equium range
if its well under 24v then its under powering the laptop
Out of my mind. I Haven't Lost My Mind, It's Backed Up On Disk Somewhere.

i think the major problem is the "immediate stop", if we properly analyze this symptom we can get the solution. when we plug the AC/DC adapter to the laptop, it shuts down; so there are two major causes:
OVP protection problem (Over voltage protection)
the 19V of the adapter is not properly regulated; we need to replace te AC/AC adaptor
2. OCP protection problem (Over current protection) if the power jack is broken, it cause a bad metal to metal contact, in this case the transient current increase fastly, the power managment IC go to the standby mode; to protect all other device ( cpu, memory, graphic controller etc) , only two voltage are present: 3.3V always on and 5V always on, we can charge the battery. to solve the problem, we need to replace the power jack located on the laptop motherboard.
