    Ddr4 ram

Samsung has announced it has developed DDR4 RAM

A clip from the press release:

The new DDR4 DRAM module can achieve data transfer rates of 2.133 gigabits per second (Gbps) at 1.2V, compared to 1.35V and 1.5V DDR3 DRAM at an equivalent 30nm-class* process technology, with speeds of up to 1.6Gbps. When applied to a notebook, it reduces power consumption by 40 percent compared to a 1.5V DDR3 module.
    According to engadget.com:
Samsung projects the new DRAM modules will hit 4Gbps speeds . . .
he target market will clearly be laptops and other mobile devices, where energy-frugal memory like this would best be appreciated.
It is good to see things are still rolling forward but do remember looking at laptops that were still being sold with DDR2 RAM so who knows how long it'll take to get all of the necessary players in check.

Thanks Student! Too bad I just bought a new laptop. Would like to have something more energy efficient.

Thanks Student26 I was planning to upgrade my system. Now, I will surely seek for DDR4 compatible board(s) with Core i7 2600K.

anything with a voltage drop must be a benifit to a laptop less heat and save on resources + faster transfer, thank you for sharing the link Student.
