Windows 8 To Have Hybrid Boot
Hybrid Boot is a new feature of Windows 8 that was recently discovered in one of the latest builds. It uses the basic idea of hibernation but utilizes it solely for core operating systems files. This speeds up the start of the operating system considerably but comes without the privacy implications.
Hybrid Boot is enabled by default in the latest builds, and you use it automatically when you press the shutdown button of the start menu.
So, the difference between Hybrid Boot and Hibernation is the data that’s saved for a faster system start.
Hybrid Boot reduced the startup time on systems to about 20 seconds on some systems according to Windows 8 News
Of note to dual booters:
Multi-boot computer users will notice a downside of Hybrid Boot: The boot manager of the system is not displayed if Windows 8 was shut down with Hybrid Boot enabled.
Remember that this is leaked news and may or may not in the future Windows 8 release, however most of us have yet to migrate to SSDs so this has the potential to be a pleasant development for Microsoft.

Thank you for the insight Student, i know if i wanted i could turn my pc off and on from the bedroom via bluetooth (Asus) and that aside, there is a mention of privacy, which wouldn't bother me as there are just the two of us here at the moment...im still considering an SSD as there are sata III releases out now, 27-32 seconds to desktop at the moment is not a problem for a home pc.

My cousin's brand new conventional Samsung N150+ able to boot faster than most mainstream notebooks and laptops, and I'm literally surprised!
I've seen different sophisticated quick-boot concept for the past years. Hopefully, it will materialize and solidified on Windows 8 and other future Oses ( + advancement on hardware! ) .

Thanks for the news Student. It will be very interesting to see what Win 8 actually looks like, when all is said and done.

Im curious myself now Bear, it will be based on win 7 architecture as 7 was on Vista, MS mentioned keeping the core a couple of years back and building on it rather than producing from scratch, there are a few things i would like to see implemented, but if the price is too high i may re-consider as 7 is hard to beat.

I certainly wouldn't upgrade right away, unless I am really impressed with Win 8 RC, when they release it and I get to test drive it.
