    Readyboost Problem

    My system is newly formatted and I have a problem in readyboost. There's an error in readyboost tab:

    I go to services.msc -> superprefetch (sysmain). I see that the service is set to automatic but it didn't start. I manually start the service but I got this error:

    I don't know what to do. Please help me. Thank you very much.

    Check that the driver for " USB human interface " device whether it is updated or not..
    i think that may be the problem ..

    a very little chance is that your memory stick has less than 64 Mb of space which is not sufficient for ready boost.. format it and then insert and then see the result..

    Hello vhick. Is this a device you have used for Readyboost in the past? I will assume it is, and is capable of being used for readyboost, and that it doesn't have a switch set to lock, or read only. Suggest you make a backup of registry before doing any regedit.

    [url=http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry]Backup Registry

    Open Regedit (Windows Key+R)> Navigate to the following key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SysMain

    Right click on the Folder select Properties> Select Security tab> Choose Edit button> Select Add> Type in Everyone> Click on Check names> Click Ok> Under Group or user name select Everyone> Under Permissions for system check allow full control

    Thank you very much for quick reply.

    @princeaniket the system is newly formatted and I look through device manager and everything is all right. I formated my 2Gb kingston data traveler using diskpart command. Still, same problem.

    @A Guy, yes! your right. I'm using my flash drive before so I wondering why I have this error after a fresh install. I go to the security tab in properties and check the "Group or user names" section and I see only "Everyone" in full control. I also did it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SysMain allowing "Everyone" in full control but still the same problem.

    Check that the services in dependencies are also started. Right click on Superfetch listing in services.msc and choose properties, then dependency tab. In my system they are:

    Did u try it using some other usb. Or if nothing works do a repair install. Pls report back. It is most probably due to some corruption. Try to update the drivers for usb human interface and just check if there are any conflicts. Try to troubleshoot it.

    Thank you very much guys for the solutions. I do some troubleshooting this couple of days until I do a repair install. I'm afraid to do a repair install because I though that all my user settings and program settings are lost which is really pain, but windows 7 have a good repair install. It preserve all the user settings and also program settings which is really great! even my manual tweaks are preserve. Now my readyboost is working and also windows 7 buildin parental control which have a problem after installing windows live parental control.

    Again thank you very much.

    Great, glad you got it sorted. yes a [url=http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html]Repair Install is quite easy, and will save all your files and programs. It will reset any 3rd party themes and customizations, necessitating repatching your system. But by the time most attempt a Repair install, they will have already reset those with the [url=http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html]SFC /SCANNOW .
