    USB 2.0 header workaround

While looking for a workaround i came across the NZXTinternal USB expansion card to address a problem i had with my asus rampage III extreme.

The rampage III extreme mobo has one usb 2.0 header and once you have conected the the Asus OC station or any particular added hardware that requires these headers you lose expansion especially in my scenario where i required the use of my front USB 2.0 ports x 4.

NZXT made this simple and no external wiring.

The workaround to expand the use of the USB 2.0 header with the OC station is to split the conection of the OC station into two halves and conect one side of the cable to the NZXT expansion card USB 2.0 header and leaving the remaining OC station conection on the board freeing up the USB 2.0 header to give an additional 3 headers, giving me the extra headers to have my front USB2.0 ports conected with the added benifit of internal USB 2.0 ports x 2

All in all it makes for a tidy job and saves the problem of searching the back of the case (which by now is very heavy) for USB ports without having to use an additional USB hub.

This may serve people that have boards with limited USB 2.0 headers.

Hi Jay. I remember you mentioning before about the lack of USB headers on your Asus MB. Thanks for the heads up on working around this problem and I will keep it mind for my future build. Yes, I still intend to build a PC someday. :P

That's ok i will remind him BigGuy and between the two of us we will encourage him to have a go..

This is quite a niffty piece of hardware to have as you can put two internal usb keys in your case and handy for a wireless mouse as it frees up the rear USB ports, when i asked a tech guy in Dublin he hadn't an idea, so NZXT have filled a gap and i now have 4 x USB 2.0 ports at the front top of my pc, as well as the OC station working, the only thing i didn't like is the power cable was a bit on the short side. Its neat and tidy and will fit in any case and can be placed anywhere with no fuss.

Sometimes, it seems the best way to figure this kind of stuff out, is just to take the bull by the horns and get on with it!

@ BigGuy You better be nice to me buddy, or the next time we go fishing, I will put you in shallow water!
