Corsair AX-850 PSU noise sound *RESOLVED

I recently purchased the Corsair AX-850 PSU to accommodate my PC's growing expansion and thirst for power. After looking at some positive reviews I found it for a fantastic price and decided to take the plunge and buy it.
Touted for it's near silent operation I was looking forward to a quieter PC. But after installation I was mortified to hear this penetrating constant high pitched electronic sound emanating from the PSU.
After searching I found this thread sticky on the Corsair forum which deals with noise issues http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85166 . I found that my BIOS indeed had C1E + EIST enabled. So I disabled both. As a result there was a significant reduction in noise. It was no longer constant, however when I opened my web browser and new windows there it was again. Not as loud or incessant, but still irritatingly present.
The next logical step, per the thread, was the graphics card driver. As I only had the MS windows update driver installed with no GUI or ability to change settings I downloaded and installed the latest driver from ATI for my graphics card. I used the full Catalyst Control Centre version. I couldn't find an option for "vsync" as suggested by the thread so I just went through and disabled all of the settings under "video settings".
Finally a mostly silent PSU. Very occasionally I hear short bursts of sound, but nothing too bothersome or frequent enough to worry about.
I know this is not ideal for users to go through this rigmarole to silence their new "supposedly silent" PSU's, but I hope this will be of help to someone else having these issues.

Thanks for the info magoo. So far, knock on wood, my Coolermaster 1000 watt PSU is very quiet, so no complaints from here.

I think my comment about my Seasonic on Facebook sums it up:

It's so quiet, if my computer didn't have an LED on it to let me know it was on, I'd think it was still off!

It's a beautiful PSU, very very quiet, and very very happy with it.

Seasonic has a great reputation, and like yours i have a coolermater pro gold and i wouldn't know it was running, i saw a video on the home site of it starting a car by removing one of the battery leads, similar to the battery chargers in a garage with the booster switch...

I wouldn't like to have to make changes to make it quiet... "there is nothing like hearing your own thoughts" i like a quiet pc.

Right now all I'm hearing is the CPU fan and the GPU fan. The case fans and PSU fans are silent. So wonderfully nice.

The most heard is wind noise coming out of the Monitor fan. If you hear only the sound of the wind, that's good. If no audible sound of the wind, it is problematic.

im going to have to upgrade the exhaust fans in the roof as they are the noisest, not bad but when things are really quiet i can hear them, thankfully the psu is face down to draw the air in, so unless it's really been stretched i would never hear a sound out of it...

I put two fans inside the Monitor, to draw out the heat. And all this time the Monitor was never hot, even when operated for more than 12 hours.

Um... on my monitors I've got no spots for fans, nor would I want to have a monitor with fans...

What kind of monitor do you have that has fans, Solin?

This type CRT monitors GTC (GM562), which has long been more than six years but has never been broken. On the left side and right side is still enough space to put two small fans..
