Core Temps for i5 2500k CPU
I like to use Real Temp to monitor the core temperatures of my i5 CPU and for the last few days I've noticed that core 1 has been running 4-5 degrees warmer than the rest. This is the first time I've noticed this happening since I've had the CPU, so I decided to try a couple of other monitoring programs and they gave me the same reading for core 1. I do not currently have my i5 overclocked so that can't be the problem. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening? Any input would be appreciated!
Thank, Bear

The three programs I've used to check core temps are RealTemp, Core Temp, and the Asus Ai Suite.

Alright, just wondering.
Also, did you install that CPU cooler you were telling me about earlier? And has it happened since install?

No, I haven't had the time to install the new CPU cooler, so that isn't the problem.

Hm... odd, because I was thinking one side didn't get tightened down. There goes my idea.

Well, unless I didn't do a good enough job installing the stock CPU cooler and the problem is just starting to manifest itself. Thanks for the throwing that possiblity out there, as this is what I am looking for. To paraphrase Sherlock Holmes, I am looking to exhaust all possiblities until what ever remains, however improbable, must be the problem.

What is the tempreture of core 1... running my own i find that the temps are higher on 1 core but not so much i would worry about them... the stock cooler comes with thermal paste applied and easy to fit.
Post average temps Bear and lets see what is happening...

Hi Jay! Thanks for your response.
During normal computer usuage the core temps fluctuate between 30c and 40c, so that is pretty decent. It is just that core 1 has started averaging a bit hotter than the other 3 and I wanted to be sure it wasn't something to be concerned about.

Of course. It's a thought, that's all.
