AMD Bulldozer fails to live up to hype
After all the hype and expectations, it appears Bulldozer is a wanna be. Damn shame, some competition would have been great. An 8 core processor being stomped by a quad core (and cheaper) is just disappointing.

Had a look at the review on overclock 3D TV and it's very disappointing, AMD should be pushing Intel instead of trying to equal the Sandy bridge, with the release of IvyBridge on the horizon this will leave AMD remaining in the budget end of the market..
I was hoping for alot more as the Bulldozer really disappoints on the test bench... if AMD pushes Intel then it's good for us, if Intel have no competition they can reap the money and not push too hard to do it.
I was waiting for some time to see the review as mentioned by Prakash, so it's like Vista. promised alot but disappoints.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything amazing. But I'm an Intel-kind-of-guy.

I think the fact it can't even beat the previous generation x4 and x6 Phenom chips unless all 8 cores are used is the really disappointing part about all this. Apart from video encoding and 3D rendering, are you really going to get the most out of it?
AMD going down the road of throwing cores at it to get more performance as opposed to getting more bang for your Mhz is perhaps now showing up the problems with this way of thinking. Single core performance is really poor compared to it's competitors and many programs including things like iTunes still only use 1 or 2 cores at the most.
Bad for AMD and anyone looking to upgrade because as mentioned above, Intel don't have to do a thing and could even raise prices if they wanted and still stay on top. The same day Bulldozer was released, some retailers in the UK put the 2600k up by £10. Coincidence???
Was looking to upgrade my ageing Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz this Christmas to a 2600k/2700k but that now depends on which way the prices go...

I paid $209 US for my 2500k a couple of months ago and now I see them advertised for $199, so prices are heading in the right direction.

I think I will stay with an Intel cpu for my new computer.

Very, very, good idea. The older AMD chips can take a lot of overclocking I'm told, but even using chips at stock, that's not so bad. (I'm using mine at stock and never had had a slowdown yet on the i3 or i5.)

Wise decision Buddy. Of all the computers I have owned throughout the years, the only time I've had to replace a CPU was when I had an AMD and it went bad some reason.

AMD is not likely to rival Intel, AMD in terms of price is more expensive. In terms of quality, obviously Intel is better. Comparisons such as junior and senior. AMD started playing at a speed of 3GHz. Even Intel reportedly is in developing stage 7GHz processor speed. In the matter of upgrades, Intel is more compatible in terms of motherboard and other.

Perhaps in your market, they're more expensive. In Canada, AMD is cheap but usually shows though as poorer quality builds. Intel is better by a LONG run. It's why I have no problems supporting the iSeries chips. They're really good chips.
